These universities are approved by University of Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.

Some of these universities show excellence in quality of education and running various programmes approved by foreign universities.

Deemed university is a status of autonomy granted by the Department of Higher Education on the advice of the UGC, under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956.

Students also tend to opt for universities which will provide better quality of education, better infrastructure, better faculties and better placements.

Rank 1: VIT University, Vellore

Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani was established in 1929, and become deemed university in 1964. Rank 3: Manipal University, Manipal
