The Right Lehenga For Your Body Type

Right Lehenga For Your Body Type

Needless to say, every bride aspires to look her absolute gorgeous best on her wedding day. Her body, mind and soul are pampered to make her radiate on her big day. And of course, her trousseau is carefully curated to make her look like a princess. The Wedding lehenga is probably the most important selection for any bride on her wedding. You may select the best designer lehenga is town, but it will fall flat if the style does not suit your body shape.

It’s very important for the bride to pick up a lehenga style according to her body type. So whether you are an hourglass, rectangle, pear or an apple, choosing the right lehenga style that flatters your body type will add oodles of style miles to your personality!

So find out your body type and pick the right lehenga style accordingly-

1. The Hour Glass

Blessed are you to have the perfect body shape! A proportionate bust, waist and hip ratio ensures that almost everything will look perfect on you. However, a Lehenga with a flowy silhouette and a fitted short choli will accentuate your shape more.

2. The Rectangle

If you are those skinny athletic frame kinds then your clothing has to be such that it creates the much-needed curves on your frame. Pick up a wide, full skirt in a stiff fabric to add volume at the bottom. Something in Raw Silk is perhaps the perfect fabric for you and also Net. You can pair with a blouse that is low and plunging to create the illusion of curves.

3. The Pear

The most typical Indian body shape, a Pear is heavy at the bottom and slender up top. An A-line lehenga that fits at the waist and flared in an A shape to the hem will be the perfect choice for this body type. Top it up with puffy sleeves or heavy ornate choli to balance the look.

4. The Apple

Full flared lehengas are just right for you. The wide bottom will make your waist appear smaller in comparison and keep your body looking more proportional. Apples should avoid heavy embroidery around the waist, and ideally limit the embroidery to the hem of the lehenga. Drape your dupatta from the front as it covers your waist and ideally wear a long choli that ends slightly below the point where your lehenga begins. To shape your stomach you can use a tummy tucker too.

5. The Inverted triangle shape

A cone-shaped woman is exactly opposite of a pear-shaped one, with a broader top and a narrower bottom. So it becomes important to balance both the parts in the right way. Choose a flared or a circular lehenga which has a large circumference along with lots of pleats near the waist and keep the choli not too ornate with preferably a plunging neckline. It enhances your broad shoulders and defined bust while also driving the attention down. Use soft fabrics to layer at the top (jackets, capes etc.) That will also create a balanced look.
