Kajal Agarwal is a Punjabi actress born on the 19th of June, 1985. Her parents are Vinay Agarwal, who is an entrepreneur and her mother, Suman Agarwal is a confectioner.

She has a younger sister; Nisha Agarwal is also an actress in Tamil and Telugu language films. She made her debut in Bollywood in 2004, in the film Kyun…! Ho Gaya Na, which turned out to be a huge flop at the box office, while her debut in Telugu language films was in the film Lakshmi Kalyanam in 2007. In 2007, she tasted her first success in the film industry with the film Chandamama and another blockbuster followed in 2009 with the film Magadheera, which even fetched her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actress.

Some of Kajal’s other hit Tollywood or Telugu language movies include the films Darling and Brindavanam in 2010, Mr. Perfect in 2011 and Business Man in 2012; her Kollywood or Tamil language hit movies include the films Naan Mahaan Alla in 2010 and Maatran and Thuppakki in 2012.

Kajal has recently shown her willingness to be bolder on screen and has done a kissing scene with actor Suriya in the Tamil language film Maatran. She has reportedly expressed her readiness to do bikini scenes too.

This Mumbai born actress completed her graduation in Mass Media from the Kishinchand Chellaram College in Mumbai. Kajal did her schooling from St.Anne’s High School, Colaba and Jai Hind College in Mumbai.

Kajal had to face some unseemly controversy when FHM magazine published her topless pictures on its cover page. She protested her innocence and said that FHM had morphed her topless pictures, when she had shot for a photo shoot with the magazine as a part of her film Singhum’s promotions. Though industry cynics claim that it was all a publicity gimmick to garner more Bollywood attention.

Recently, when she had to visit Switzerland, Slovenia and Norway, in Europe for long periods, for location shooting of her Tamil and Telugu films, she was enchanted by the places she visited and Norway, especially totally won her over. Her Norway experiences compelled her to even write it down in a travelogue form.

After experiencing success in Bollywood with the film Singham and joining the elite ‘100 Crore Club’, she is now looking forward to her next Neeraj Pandey directed film Special Chabbis. Akshay Kumar is playing her male co-star in the film and his character is that of a con man and thief, while Kajal’s character is that of a school teacher who falls in love with Akshay Kumar’s character.

Recently, Kajal had the time of her life when she along with Bend It Like Beckham actress Archie Panjabi had the opportunity to do an air tour of Kuala Lumpur in two Cessna 172 planes and they got to see the famous Petronas Twin Towers from a distance of 457m above. The exciting experience has made her interested in learning how to fly.

Interestingly, as far as image is concerned, her South based films have shown her in Western silhouettes and allowed her the freedom to experiment with her looks, while her Bollywood movies have preferred to show her in simple salwar kameez mode, going the traditional route.
