While some of these managed to recover their cost and others that were only flops.

1. Mughal-e-azam

Mughal-e-azam

This film was made in the 60s, with Dilip Kumar, Prithviraj Kapoor and Madhubala in the lead. It had a total of 12 songs with extraordinary costumes and sets. A total of 1.5 crores was spent. Fortunately, it managed to break all records and even today remains one of the most profitable films in India.

2. Love Story 2050

Love Story 2050

This film launched Harman Baweja. However, it turned out to be quite heavy on Daddy Baweja. Science fiction is not a genre that the Indian audience can appreciate, and in addition, not one thing was nice about this film. People remember this movie because of the Priyanka- Harman link up. Whatever happened to that? The film was a big flop, even though 80 crores was spent on its making.

3. Drona

Drona

We are still wondering why this film was even made. Drona, staring Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra, was a superhero film. The producer spent a total of 12 crore on the special effects and creating the perfect den for the villain. Most people don’t know when this film released and when it flopped. Sadly, the total cost of this film was 60 crores.

4. Blue

Blue

The song ‘Chiggy Wiggy’ was from this film and that is the only thing we remember. Blue was a multi-starrer with Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan, Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt in the lead. Apparently, Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue was given over a crore for one song. And the total budget of this film was 125 crores. But it miserably failed at the box office.

5. Ra-One

Ra-One

The only reason this film worked was because of Shah Rukh Khan and Akon singing Chammak Challo. It was an over-the-top sci-fi film that no one really cared about. The film was made on a generous budget of 135 crores and managed to recover that too. That's not all thought. It also received the National Award for best special effects. We can only say, 'Not bad, SRK!'

6. Don 2

Don-2

Don 2 was an action thriller movie with Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead. We give marks to Farhan Akhtar’s direction. In fact, the film received various awards and managed to become the fourth highest grossing film in 2011. It was made at a total budget of 85 crores.

7. Krrish 3

Krrish 3

Krrish 3 was a sequel to Krrish. We don’t know why Krrish 2 was never made. Even with Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranuat and Vivek Oberoi in the lead, this film wasn’t bearable. However, it did extremely well with the numbers. The film was made in a budget of 50 crores and it ended up earning a total of 245 crores. Miracles do happen!

8. Kites

Kites

The only reason this film made headlines was due to Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori’s alleged affair. This movie got too much hype before its release and failed at the box-office. Sadly, it was made at a budget of 125 crore but recovered only 85 crore.

9. Robot

Robot

With Rajnikant and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead, this film was a hit down south and we know the reason why. It took over two years to complete, and was shot at exciting locations like Austria, Brazil and the United States. No wonder it had a budget 200 crores, and thanks to Rajni Sir, it did manage to earn all that back.

10. Ghajini

Ghajini

This action–psychological thriller was inspired by Christopher Nolan’s Momento. Aamir Khan received a lot of appreciation for getting into the character so perfectly while some critics complained that the film was unreasonably violent. Nevertheless, the film was made at a budget of 65 crores, but ended up earning more than 225 crores. Even today, Ghajini is on the list of top 10 highest grossing Bollywood films.
