10 Bollywood Unsolved Mysteries That Have Been Stuck On Our Mind For Years

Stories from tinsel town always attract the common people, more so if the stories are related to the personal lives of the Bollywood stars. Although the paparazzi are always on their toes to give us all the updates and whereabouts of our favourite stars, there remain a few mysteries of the fraternity that are unsolved till date. #1. Rekha’s Marriage

When Bollywood’s evergreen actress Rekha, was seen wearing sindoor on several award functions and occasions, it became a reason for much hue and cry among many people. While many criticised her for insulting the tradition and culture of India (Hindus), others believed that she had secretly married someone. In fact, the diva has been donning sindoor for quite a long time. This first came into notice when she was seen wearing sindoor at Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh’s wedding. Many related it to her affair with Amitabh Bachchan, which spread like a wildfire, but none of them came out in the open about it. After her marriage with Delhi-based industrialist Mukesh Aggarwal, who committed suicide a year after their marriage, Rekha has never officially declared remarrying anybody. This further made the sindoor a mystery.

Although the rumour mills churned the news of her marrying Vinod Mehra, she always declined its authenticity. Therefore, the mystery behind Rekha’s marriage and wearing sindoor remains unsolved. Rekha on her part, always justified wearing sindoor as a fashion statement.

#2. Divya Bharti’s Untimely Death

She was just 23 when she left the world. This diva was a rising star of Bollywood in the 90s. While she was known for quite some famous movies, like Deewana and Shola Aur Shabnam, it was her song Saat samundar paar with which she rose to an unexpected success, which is a must-play song at every party till date. It was the fateful night of April 5, 1993, when Divya succumbed to her injuries after falling from a five-storey building.

Married to Bollywood’s ace producer-director, Sajid Nadiadwala, the actress was assumed to have committed suicide. However, lack of evidence or reason made people speculate a murder conspiracy around her death. While police suspected her husband to be behind her death, the truth is a mystery till date.

#3. Silk Smitha’s Mysterious Death

Vidya Balan won many accolades for her daring and bold performance as Silk Smitha, in the movie, The Dirty Picture. While the movie was yet another proof of Vidya’s unbridled talent, the movie was a biopic on India’s most erotic actress, Silk Smitha.

Although in the movie, the reason behind Vidya committing suicide came out quite clear, in the real world, Silk’s suicide is still a mystery. While she was ruling the roost career-wise, people believe she had an unstable personal life. With no concluding reason behind committing suicide, Silk Smitha was found hanging to death at her residence. Many believed she poisoned herself.

#4. Jiah Khan’s Suicide

A huge outcry was made when the news channels flashed the news of Jiah Khan committing suicide. Making her debut with Big B, Amitabh Bachchan, in Nishabd, Jiah proved her acting talent with movies like Ghajnii and Housefull. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her bedroom on June 3, 2013.

While depression was touted as the prime reason behind her death, a later discovery of a six-page suicide letter brewed a fresh controversy. The letter revealed her undergoing a secret abortion and her relation with upcoming actor, Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, which had hit a rocky patch by then. Amidst all the blame-game, the real and prime reason for her taking this extreme step still remains a mystery.

#5. Mamta Kulkarni’s Disappearance

Stories of Bollywood’s links with the underworld are quite old and common. However, disappearances due to that link never fails to attract media’s attention. The same happened when Mamta Kulkarni suddenly disappeared from the industry.

Her disappearance was always associated with her rumoured affair with international drug kingpin, Vicky Goswami, and alleged friendship with underworld don Chhota Rajan. While there are stories of her getting converted to Islam, she is believed to be currently living in an ashram in India. However, there is still no concrete reason as to why she disappeared from Bollywood when she was at the peak of her career.

#6. Abhishek Bachchan-Karisma Kapoor Separation

Bollywood was in a celebratory mood when the news of engagement of Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor was officially announced by the respective families. However, soon another news surfaced that the engagement has been called off for the reason best known to the families only.

While many assumptions about a tiff between the two families, or Abhishek’s uncertain career were made, none of the clans had given any official statement behind the break-up. Thus, leaving it to become one of Bollywood’s most discussed mysteries.

#7. Hrithik Roshan-Suzanne Khan Divorce

Fans went gaga when Suzanne confessed about not even daring to imagine a life without Hrithik Roshan on a talk show. But all havoc broke loose on tinsel town when just a week before their 13th anniversary, the couple got separated and revealed that they were seeking for a divorce.

The golden couple of Bollywood were together for 17 years, including 4 years of courtship, and were often regarded as the ideal couple from the industry. However, following some untold reasons, the couple headed for a divorce and was granted the same on November 1, 2014. Although, there are various stories that brewed as the reason behind the separation, the beans of truth are yet to be spilled.

#8. Parveen Babi’s Sudden Death

People were already speculating about the reason behind the popular yesteryear actress, Parveen Babi, quitting the industry at the peak of her career. She further created a stir when she claimed that several actors have conspired to murder her. She lived a dubious life where she constantly felt the threat of getting killed or murdered. That is why, despite her claims of having solid proofs about Sanjay Dutt in regards to the 1993 bomb blasts case, she never turned up in the court.

Like her life, her death was suspicious too. The actress was found dead in 2005 in her apartment. While the reason behind her death is unknown, police claimed to have discovered her body 72 hours after her death.

#9. Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor Breakup

The chemistry between Shahid and Kareena in the movie Jab We Met became ideal for many of their fans. People appreciated the movie and their chemistry owing to the fact that they were real life couple too. After all, the leaked lip-lock video of the two went viral quite (un)famously. However, it was only later when they both revealed that they had broken up while shooting for the much-acclaimed movie. While the movie was a big hit at the box office, the relation between the two hit a rough patch.

Both are married now and leading their separate lives. However, the prime reason behind their breakup is a secret yet to be revealed.

#10. Friends Turning Foes- Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta

Starring together in films like Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta became the most talked about BFFs of the tinsel town. The bond between the two giggling girls of Bollywood made many people jealous in the industry. However, their happy friendship did not last for long. The two were seen giving each other cold shoulders quite soon.

While the reason behind their breakup is still unknown, the rumour mills suggest that differences cropped up with Preity bagging the lead role in Karan Johar’s Kal Ho Na Ho, which left Rani upset, as played a lead in Karan’s first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
