Matrimony sites have been around for sometime now. However, there is no strong statistics to prove or challenge their merit. Joining the bandwagon is MatchMeCupid, a brand new site that aims at changing the way traditional marriage portals work in the country.
Brainchild of Mandeep Kaur (30)–an MBA (Marketing) from the Symbiosis Institute of International Business – Pune, MatchMeCupid.com aims at matchmaking for the younger generation – shifting focus from just arranged marriages to falling in love, thus striking a balance. “There is a stigma attached to online matrimony. I know a lot of single people who will never put their profile up on any portal, as they can’t relate to it. Thus there needs to be a revamp in this sector. These platforms must focus on meeting interesting people (human interface instead of a computer), before taking the next big step instead of a hurried decision to marry a person. The focus needs to be on offline meetings, like meeting a friend’s friend,” says Mandeep.
How it works:
- MatchMeCupid.com is for select members only, who get an invite to be a part of the exclusive community after a thorough profile check.
- Once a member, you are given the privileges of a personal cupid (relationship manager) who then makes it his responsibility to find you a near-perfect match; fix up an offline meeting to let you start off on a more informal note and then take it from there to the bigger steps of marriage.
- Only after the cupids get to know you, your quirks and your tick-offs, do they start finding you your near-perfect pair. Understanding your requirements is their biggest strength.
- Through this entire process, members are also offered grooming and counseling sessions to make that meeting less-awkward and more fulfilling plus invitations to events where you could meet other interesting members.
Winnie Bharadwaj (28), banking professional and a member on MatchMeCupid says, “I have tried to find a match on a few popular matrimonial sites earlier, but all my efforts failed. Just when I gave up the idea of finding the one through matrimonial sites, a friend told me about MatchMeCupid. I read about them in their About Us section and what I liked is the quality control that they promise. So there are no fakes or people who are just trying to find a date, but profiles of people with marriage on their minds. The idea of a personal cupid who hand holds you throughout is also a winner. So here I am, hoping for my cupid to set me up soon.”
With her site, Mandeep is trying to take online matrimony to a different level, adding some personalisation and some love to the traditional way marriages are set up.
