Please note that when arriving in India by air. There are two channels to exit the airport after clearing immigration at the airport. They are known as the Red and Green Channels.

If you do not have anything to declare at customs then you are free to walk out from the green channel. In case you have something to declare then you should proceed via the 'Red' channel where customs officers are waiting to assess your dutiable items and give you an opportunity to pay the customs duty applicable.
