Thiruvanathapuram: The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations has extended the last date for submission of documents to prove the NRI claim. The required documents for claiming NRI Quota seats in Self Financing Medical/Dental Colleges are to be forwarded to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, 5th Floor, Housing Board Buildings, Santhi Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram –695 001 before 5 pm on 05.08.2017, by Registered Post/Speed Post/Hand Delivery.

On July 28, the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee issued directives on the procedure of MBBS/BDS admissions including NRI quota. Accordingly, certificate issued by the Embassy/Consulate stating that the Sponsor is a Non Resident Indian (NRI) or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or the Green Card documents shall be accepted in lieu of the Overseas Employment Certificate issued by the Employer and attested by the Embassy. 

In the case of nonsubmission of Embassy Certificate, the endorsement in the passport of the sponsor about the employment by the Embassy/Consulate shall be accepted. All other documents for claiming NRI quota stand unchanged. In these circumstances, the last date for submission of documents for claiming NRI Quota seats is extended up to 05.08.2017.
