Birthmarks: A clue to your past life?

1. Researching our past for answers to the future!

Birthmarks are considered as indications for reincarnation. Researcher Ian Stevenson found numerous examples of birthmark cases. In one such case, as documented by Stevenson, an Indian boy was born without fingers. He later remembered his past life where his fingers were cut off. In another surprising case, a boy was born in Turkey with a malformed right ear. He recalled having been shot on that side of his head. Are these just legends, folklores? Or is there some bit of truth in such stories? Let’s explore…

2. Birthmarks and birth deformities

It is believed that common birthmarks, deformities or physical handicaps are often a result of a traumatic or powerful emotional experience in a past life. Birthmarks are often found through regressive hypnosis to be a type of emotional or psychic imprint from a cause of death or trauma in a previous lifetime. It is like an emotional memory that was so strong; it carried through to this lifetime. However, its purpose can also be to serve as a spiritual or emotional lesson to balance out past life actions.

3. How are birthmarks connected to reincarnation?

Dr. Jim Tucker at the University of Virginia has been continuing the work of the late Dr. Ian Stevenson who investigated more than 210 cases of children with birthmarks. As we know, birthmarks are considered as the site of a violent injury or some special memory from the past. In some cultures this idea is taken one step further by deliberately marking the bodies of deceased loved ones to help identify them in their next life.

One example of this is the case of an old woman in Thailand who told her family that she would like to be reincarnated as a boy. When she died, her daughter dipped her finger in white paste and marked the back of her mother's neck with a distinctive vertical line. A short time later the daughter gave birth to a baby boy who remarkably appeared to exhibit a birthmark identical to the white line she'd painted on to her mother's neck.

When the boy got older he also developed the habit of claiming possession of items that belonged to his grandmother as if they were his own. The story may sound far-fetched, but according to Dr. Tucker there have been numerous such cases reported over the years. Whether such stories really do represent evidence of reincarnation however is a matter that will likely remain the subject of controversy and debate for a long time to come.

An explanation by author Karen Kubickol: Everything is made up of atoms. Each atom is (in simple terms) a vibration of energy. Everything around us, including you is a vibration. But, we are vibrating so fast, we appear solid. Everyone has heard of auras – it is the energy part of you that can be seen. We are all, essentially, made up of energy. Therefore, if you die traumatically, a “spot” is left on your energy. It can become a birthmark.

4. Can birthmarks reveal how you died?

Another assumption that people make about birthmarks is that birthmarks really show how you died in your past life, birthmarks are caused due to what the mother ate during pregnancy or what she did during pregnancy and that birthmarks are remains from your past life. The curiosity of birthmarks just goes on and on. Take a look at the different types of birthmarks and their probable past life causes…

5. Freckles-Albinos

Freckles (dark spots) and albinos (white spots) are often located where you have been burned by fire in past lives. Those who suffer from burns will tell you that fire leaves its mark on the skin permanently. Freckles and albinos are usually signs that you need to heal fire karma from past lives.

6. Skin Depressions

Skin depressions (where the skin is pitted, grooved, and rough) whether caused by injury or diseases (like smallpox, chicken pox, and syphilis) are often where you have been wounded in past lives. They are reminders of the issues from past lives that you have come to heal in the present lifetime.

7. Moles-Warts

Moles and warts are often located at the site of non-fatal disease lesions from past lives. Even though moles and warts have present life origins, they tend to gather around sites of past life trauma. Especially if you are having trouble in healing them, moles and warts may signal the need for past life healing.

8. Tumors

Tumors are often located at the site of fatal wounds inflicted by weapons in past lives. Tumors are the ultimate indicator that a past life is screaming out for healing in the present. Tumors usually demand a person's attention, forcing them to take action to save their life now, even if it means healing their past lives.

9. Unhealed Burn Mark

This deep red birth-mark is the body's way of remembering being burned by fire. The darker the mark, the less the wound has healed karmically. Usually this is because the past life is recent and the related trauma has not been processed.

10. Healed Burn Mark

This ultra white birth-mark is the body's way of remembering being burned by fire. The lighter the mark, the more the wound has healed karmically. Although it is somewhat healed, there are still lessons to be learned from this old wound.
