1 Madhuri Dixit: The Most Iconic Bollywood Actress

Madhuri Dixit Nene was born as ‘Madhuri Shankar Dixit’ on 15th May 1967, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. After completing her graduation, Madhuri attended Parle College and completed her Bachelors Degree in Microbiology. While studying, she also trained as a Kathak dancer. Though she wanted to be a micro-biologist, life took a different turn and she ended up as one of the most successful actresses in Bollywood.

Madhuri Dixit – ‘Madhubala and ‘ Maryln Monroe of Bollywood’, is one of the most famous, successful and Iconic Bollywood actress till date. She is one of those actors who have struggled in their life to reach the no 1 slot in the Indian film industry. She dominated Bollywood as a leading actress and an accomplished dancer. 3 Sharmila Tagore:

One of the Iconic Bollywood Actress Sharmila Tagore born a Hindu at 8 December 1946, and that remained her faith until she married Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

She established herself as a popular Hindi film actress with Shakti Samanta’s Kashmir Ki Kali with Shammi Kapoor in 1964. Rekha was born on 10 October 1954 in Chennai to Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan and Telugu actress Pushpavalli. She cosidered as one of the finest actresses in Hindi cinema and most iconic Bollywood actress due to her versatility and acknowledged.

Rekha has acted in over 180 films in a career spanning over 40 years. Throughout her career, she has often played strong female characters and, apart from mainstream cinema, appeared in arthouse films, known in India as parallel cinema. She has won three Filmfare Awards, two for Best Actress and one for Best Supporting Actress, for her roles in Khubsoorat (1980), Khoon Bhari Maang (1988) and Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996), respectively. Her portrayal of a classical courtesan in Umrao Jaan (1981) won her the National Film Award for Best Actress.

In 1990, Rekha married Delhi-based industrialist Mukesh Aggarwal, a year later he committed suicide. But in a 2004 television interview she denied being married to Mehra referring She is still unmarried as her parents, They were not married.

Mumtaz was born to Abdul Saleem Askari and Shadi Habib Agha in Mumbai, India, on 31 July 1947. She entered Hindi cinema at age 12. Bollywood actress, best remembered for her roles in Tere Mere Sapne (1971), Khilona (1970). Her performance in Khilona got her the Filmfare Best Actress Award, while the film itself won the Filmfare Best Movie Award. She is cited as the topmost actress and top sex-symbol of Bollywood in the period 1969-76.

Mumtaz acted in 108 films in a career that spanned just 15 years till 1977. She won the Filmfare Best Actress Award for one of her favorite films Khilona in 1970. She married Mayur Madhvani on 29 May 1974; they have two daughters, Natasha and Tanya.

6 Madhubala :

Madhubala was born as Mumtaz Jahan Begum Dehlavi in New Delhi, India on 14 February 1933. She was the fifth child among eleven children of a conservative Muslim couple. She starred in several successful movies in the 1950s and early 1960s, many of which have attained a classic status. With her contemporaries Nargis and Meena Kumari, she is widely regarded as one of the most influential and talented Hindi movie actresses.

Madhubala had many successful films following Mahal. With pressure to secure herself and her family FINANCIALLY, she acted in as many as twenty-four films in the first four years of her adult career. Consequently, critics of the time commented that Madhubala’s beauty was greater than her acting ability. It was the film Mughal-e-Azam that marked what many consider to be her greatest and definitive characterization as the doomed courtesan Anarkali.

Madhubala became one of the most sought-after actresses in India, she also attracted interest from Hollywood. She appeared in many American magazines such as Theatre Arts. In their August 1952 issue, Madhubala was featured in an extensive article with a full page photo. The piece was entitled: The Biggest Star in the World. Dream Girl Hema Malini Chakravarty was born into a Tamil Iyengar family in Ammankudi, Tiruchirappalli to V.S. Ramanujam Chakravarthy and Jaya Chakravarthy on 16 October 1948.

Hema Malini is among the most successful female film stars in the history of Indian cinema. Appearing in over 150 films in a career span of 40 years, she has starred in a large number of successful films, and her performances in both commercial and arthouse cinema, were often recognised.

Rani Mukerji was born in Mumbai on 21 March 1978 to a film-oriented family of Bengali origin. She made her acting debut with a cameo appearance in the Bengali film Biyer Phool (1996), her Hindi film debut with Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, and subsequently had her first, and still biggest commercial success with Karan Johar’s romance Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), which won her a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.
