10 Bollywood Divas Under The Waterfall
Add a saree-clad actress near a natural prop like the waterfall – and voila! You have got for yourself some pretty hot scenes for the entire movie. Like these 10 actresses who added to the oomph factor of their movies by frolicking in the water body.
Mandakini's waterfall scene in Raj Kapoor's Ram Teri Ganga Maili has become a benchmark and a reference point for any heroine who has thereafter gone under the waterfall in Bollywood. The white piece of clothing, the only thing draped around Mandakini's body (sans any blouse), went transparent under the gushing water and brought to display more than expected.
Much before Mandakini, Raj Kapoor had used the white-cloth-under-waterfall gimmick on another beauty, Zeenat Aman in Satyam Shivam Sundaram. But that film had so much and more to offer in terms of the sensuality factor that the waterfall scene might have been overshadowed. Perhaps that's the reason the filmmaker reused the idea to better effect on Mandakini.
Shilpa Shirodkar was often tagged as the sex-symbol in her heydays. In ‘Kishen Kanhaiya’, she was made to do the same white-cloth-under-waterfall stunt in the song 'Radha Bina Hai'. Unlike her predecessors, she did wear something under the sari. However, that couldn't conceal the obvious.
Moon Moon Sen
Not many would know that Moon Moon Sen (mother of Riya and Raima Sen) did the same Mandakini waterfall scene in a Bengali film called Gaja Makuta.
Ram Gopal Varma presented his one-time muse, Urmila Matondkar in the most sensuous form in his films. The waterfall was often used to add to her sensuality. In the song Zehreela Pyaar from ‘Daud’, Urmila comes across as the best ever body in recent times that a waterfall has exploited. Evidently Sanjay Dutt seems mesmerized.
Kajol, who otherwise comes across as a girl-next-door actress, couldn't help letting her hot-n-wild side out under the waterfall. This wet-and-wild number from ‘Sapney’ unleashes the latent sex-appeal of Kajol.
When the waterfall gimmick was almost forgotten by Bollywood in recent years, Katrina Kaif brought back the formula in the film ‘De Dana Dan’. And though this song was picturized in a studio, as against a natural waterfall that we often see, Katina's sex-appeal was authentic.
Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar set the screen ablaze in the rain-song Tip Tip Barsa Paani in ‘Mohra’. Some years later, the makers tried to revive the same with a waterfall song. Raveena Tandon tried to seduce Akshay Kumar in the song De Diya from ‘Keemat’ under a waterfall.
Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor and B'wood badshah Shah Rukh Khan's oozing chemistry in Asoka grabbed huge eyeballs. Check out the pair raising temperatures in the song San Sanana.
When it comes to talking about sex-appeal, how can Mallika Sherawat be left behind? In the first film that brought her to limelight, ‘Khwahish’, known for the much-popular 17 smooching scenes, one of the lip-locks happened under the waterfall.
